During World Wide Hair Tour 2024, Tom brought his magazine, "I Followed Him to the Studio but I Was Too Late to Stop Him,” to life, with an inspiring showcase of visionary looks.
The show was centered around Tom’s magazine and the audience was taken through each page thanks to a stunning visual presentation while he demonstrated a selection of looks.
Along with his team, Tom celebrated natural color while enriching each look with refined accents and reflective nuances. The performance culminated in a breathtaking moment, as Tom sculpted a single piece of hair into a mask—an intricate symbol of creativity and craftsmanship.

The show wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was a thought-provoking meditation on sustainability. Using the theme of "reflections," he underscored how our surroundings mirror our choices and actions, reminding us that the impact of our behavior on the environment is ever-present.

Sustainability is also a key concept illustrated in Tom’s magazine "I Followed Him to the Studio but I Was Too Late to Stop Him,” a publication that contains photography stories which dive deep into topics such as age, environmental impact and cultural shifts, brought to life through evocative photography and engaging interviews with experts in various fields.

When we mistreat our environment, whether it is immediate like our bodies and homes or a wider environment like society or the planet, that behavior will undoubtedly be reflected back at us.
We never need to look too far to see the decisions we have made in the past.
Davines’ commitment to sustainable and regenerative practices led me to think deeper on this, resulting in a hair story which reflects more than hair, the idea that nature will inevitably be the one holding the mirror up to us.
Andrea Meyer Ludowisy, Research Librarian at the Institute of Languages, Cultures, and Societies at the University of London, brings a unique editorial vision to the magazine, weaving stories that inspire new ways of thinking about beauty and responsibility.
“Hairstyles over the ages have reflected spiritual beliefs, personal tastes, and social and historical events. But among the many functions, some remain constant: our intention to secure good luck, attract a partner, show our compliance with cultural mores, or show non-conformity. Hair denotes group membership, and certain hairstyles indicate age, a certain stage of life, and often also a state of health.”

The magazine also features insights from British artist Anthony Corner, who reflects on the nuances of creativity and the evolution of his work. Through conversations, he explores questions like:
"What is your opinion on awards when it comes to art?”
“As an artist, do you like to look back at your past work?”

Tom Connell’s work is more than hair artistry; it’s a call to see beauty through the lens of impact and intention.
His creations challenge us to explore our own reflections in his work, where every strand, shade, and story reminds us of the balance between self-expression and sustainability.
Join Tom in reshaping not only looks, but perspectives, and step forward inspired to create with meaning.
