Last year we launched a refill pack for our best selling The Century of Light Progress multi-purpose bleaching powder, helping you to reduce the amount of plastic used in your salon.
In the original kit, you would have received one standard sized jar of The Century of Light Progress, and two refill packs. Now, for those who already have a standard size jar, we’re making it possible to buy the refills in a standalone kit, giving you more of the great quality pre-lightening product you need, with even less plastic.
By choosing to use the refill kit rather than buying a fresh plastic jar of The Century of Light Progress each time, you reduce your plastic use and help create a more sustainable salon that cares for the environment.
Why choose The Century of Light Progress?
The Century of Light Progress is our best-selling lilac multi-purpose premium pre-lightening powder for partial or full head pre-lightening services. With its odourless, creamy texture, the unique formulation allows you to achieve precision, high-performance lifting. What’s more, the added hair protection booster respects the hair’s natural structure, reducing damage and even helping to repair previous damage.
The Century of Light Progress can be used off-scalp on its own, or on-scalp if mixed with our dermatologically tested Tolerance lightening oil. Progress is suitable for natural or cosmetically coloured hair, lightening up to 9 levels, and can be mixed with Activators 5, 10, 20, 30 or 40 volumes with an open mixing ratio.

You can still buy The Century of Light Progress in either a standard 800g jar but now you can also get additional refill kits without the standard jar.

Making hair lightening more sustainable
Reducing your plastic use
While all Davines jars are made using recycled and recyclable PET plastics in fully carbon-neutral production facilities, we are still committed to reducing plastic use wherever we can. We know that plastic takes a lot of energy to make, and end-of-life plastic doesn’t always get recycled as it should.
That’s why we’ve created our refill packs. Not only do the refill bags themselves use less plastic than a standard Progress jar, there’s also just one plastic doser in the pack. This means that a kit with two The Century of Light Progress refill bags contains 92% less plastic compared to using two standard Progress jars.
Lowering your carbon footprint
Because they contain less plastic, producing the The Century of Light Progress refill packs uses less CO2 in the extraction and transformation process of the packing.
There are also CO2 savings in the transportation process because the refill packaging is lighter and more compact. This applies to the journey from the supplier to Davines, as well as transport of the finished product and end of life packaging.
Finally, because a refill kit contains twice as much product as a single jar, you have to order it less often and therefore save on the number of deliveries that need to be made.

Convenience
By ordering kits rather than individual jars, you won’t have to restock your supply of The Century of Light Progress as often - and the more compact size means you don’t have to worry about storage space either. Plus, the refill packs couldn’t be easier to use. Simply cut open the top of the bag and slot it into your empty jar. You can see how easy it is in our dedicated video.
